Nashville Ballet's Aesop's Fables
Friday, 3/23/2012
7:00 p.m.
Palace Theater
146 N. Water Ave.
Gallatin, TN
The Gallatin Arts Council is pleased to announce the Nashville Ballet is bringing a new ballet to Gallatin. Aesop's Fables, an engaging children's ballet features four popular tales by the world-famous storyteller: The Tortoise and the Hare, The Fox and the Crow, The Wind and the Sun, and The Ants and the Grasshopper. Woven together with an original narrative, these stories creatively depict Aesop winning his freedom from slavery through his cautionary storytelling. Audiences are transported from Ancient Greece with period costumes and elaborate masks, to present day as each of the four memorable fables come to life through movement.
For this ballet, audiences will have an opportunity to observe the choreographed work as well as discuss their observations and ask questions of the Nashville Ballet professional artists who performed. These personalized encounters are a rare opportunity for many audiences, and provide a unique experience that allows viewers to truly feel and see the kinetic energy of dance movement.
The ballet is free and open to the public. Donations are welcome.
This performance is sponsored by the Gallatin Arts Council and in part by a grant from the Tennessee Arts Commision and Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

Initially inspired by the 10-year anniversary of the events of September 11, 2001, the show concept developed by writers Matt Davenport and Scott Seidl has evolved into a montage of the moments, memories and music that embody the American Spirit. More than a patriotic show, this fully costumed and choreographed production show, with a cast of 10 performers, will take the audience down memory lane through eyes of a slightly befuddled Mayor of Hometown,
USA remembering the American Revolution, Civil War, Jazz, Broadway, Spirituals and more America's heroes on the battlefield and ball field rubbing elbows with entertainers and politicians alike. I saw something in my friends and neighbors that I recognize as uniquely American in the days and weeks after that infamous day, we wanted to put that pride - that shared history - at center stage, says Mr. Davenport.
Matt Davenport Productions, based in White House, Tennessee, has produced award-winning box office successes across the United States since 1992.
